HEAVEN ON EARTH 2009

A Conversation with Chartres About Finding Home

Facilitators:

Ellen OakEllen Oak (MM, MAR, Yale University) was born and raised in New York City.  Her work combines performance, teaching, and prayer to inspire, educate, and celebrate.  She has been: Minister of Worship and Music in a wide variety of churches; Director of Music at Saint John’s Seminary, Boston; and founding Artistic Director of the Boston Women’s Rainbow Chorus.  Since 1993 Ellen has worked in Worship, Theology and the Arts at Andover Newton Theological School, and pursued an active career as a mezzo-soprano and choral conductor.  Ellen has published seven collections of music for meditation and worship.  She is currently collaborating with several composers on a vocal recital series with texts from women mystics; and working on a new sung setting of Evening Prayer inclusive of the divine feminine.  Ellen is an oblate of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration; and lives with her husband and two young children in Maynard.  For further information, please visit her website : www.wisdomatplay.com.  Ellen will be preparing and leading worship for Heaven On Earth.

 

Mary LutiRev. Dr. J. Mary Luti is a church historian with a special interest in the great figures, movements, and spiritual practices of the Western Christian tradition. She taught for many years at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton, MA, and has lectured, conducted workshops, and written broadly on the various ways that people of faith have shaped their lives and handed on the meaningful traditions of the church. Mary is also an ordained UCC minister and the former pastor of First Church in Cambridge, Congregational (Harvard Square). She was recently appointed Visiting Professor of Worship and Preaching and Director of the Wilson Chapel at Andover Newton. 

 

Kathy MusserRev. Kathy Musser is Associate Pastor For Pastoral Care at the Wellesley Congregational Church  (Village Church) in Wellesley MA.  She has facilitated a labyrinth ministry there for 8 years, including monthly walks, and various workshops and courses for all ages using the labyrinth as a spiritual tool. Kathy is a founding director of the Labyrinth Guild of New England.  This is the 3rd Heaven On Earth pilgrimage that she and Tricia Kibbe have coordinated and guided together.
